Professional Behavior

The workshop application is a contractual agreement, part of which is the requirement to practice professional behavior during the workshop. Failure to behave professionally will result in the withdrawal of stipends, forfeiture of reimbursement, and/or expulsion from the Institute. That behavior includes, but is not limited to:

• Participants MUST inform the National PETE staff of any medical conditions that may impact participation in the Institute
• Attend all sessions and activities
• Work as team member. During scheduled drills, participants will be put in different roles, sometimes as a leader, sometimes not. Participants need to listen and respect all team mates.
• Do not engage in peripheral discussions during presentations
• Do not impose on a presenter’s time by engaging in lengthy discussion; time for questions are scheduled during each presentation
• Treat all workshop presenters, staff, and participants with respect and professionalism. Constructive dialogue is an integral part of this workshop; negative criticism and prolonged discussion of areas of disagreement are not.
• Honor the requirements of the Institute concerning dress, personal protective equipment, security, and safety-related precautions.
• Punctuality for scheduled events is not just a sign of respect and professionalism; it is a requirement for successful completion of IBSMART Spill Response Training Institute and post-Institute activities.
• Participants agree to adhere to NPETE’s Sexual Harassment Policies (provided prior to attendance).

Travel, Lodging, and Meals

Travel
Travel arrangements to and from Junction City, KS are the responsibility of participants. Cost of travel by air or through mileage reimbursement will be reimbursed by National PETE up to a maximum of $720.00 and $300 for car rental. Applicants are responsible for their airfare purchase even if they must withdraw from the Institute and cancel or change flights.

Lodging

During the Institute, everyone, unless other arrangements are approved by NPETE, will stay at The Courtyard Marriott 310 Hammonds Dr. Junction City, KS. Each participant will be provided their own room. National PETE will make hotel reservations for you, and hotel room and tax will be billed to the National PETE master account. However, you will need a credit card to secure your room at registration, and to cover all other incidentals (for which you are responsible – National PETE will not cover any incidentals). Reservation codes will be provided to each Participant individually. Upon approval please coordinate with Hilary Kesseler, NPETE Office Manager at hkesseler@nationalpete.org with your arrival/departure dates.

Payment for lodging outside of the workshop timeframe or for non-participating companions will be the responsibility of the participant.

Meals
A registration fee of $35 is charged to participants (reimbursed on travel forms) to cover cost of snacks and beverages during training. One lunch will be provided onsite. All other meals, including those during travel, will be reimbursed on a per diem basis. Participants will need to submit a reimbursement form no later than 30 days following the end of the Institute. These will be provided at the Institute.

Schedule

Participants must arrive by Tuesday April 23, 2024. The Institute starts Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM. Participants are responsible for attending all workshop activities as outlined in the agenda (to be announced). The training day runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If Institute objectives for the day are not completed, by 5:00 PM, the day may be extended to as late as 6:00 PM. Participants will be able to depart on the last day of the Institute no earlier than 1:00PM on Friday.

All training activities are conducted at Barton County Community College/Grandview Plaza, 100 Continental Drive, Junction City, KS 66441

Liability Acknowledgement

By registering for and attending any live in person face to face NPETE event, I understand and agree that my participation is voluntary, and I acknowledge the risks and complications associated with travel to and from, as well as participation and/or attendance at this event. I represent, understand, and agree as follows:

• I understand that I am personally responsible at all times for my own health and safety.
• I understand and acknowledge that by registering for the event I am discharging NPETE from any liability or claim that I or my family may have against NPETE or its officers, director, employees, contractors, instructors or otherwise, with respect to any bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from my participation.
• I also understand that NPETE does not assume any responsibility for or has any obligation to provide financial assistance or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability insurance, in the event of injury or illness.
• Please note: Although we will make every attempt to comply with COVID protocol, if you are accepted understand you will be coming at your own risk.

I hereby waive, release, forever discharge and hold harmless NPETE and its successors and assigns, from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from my participation in any live in person face to face NPETE event.
