Professional Behavior

The workshop application is a contractual agreement, part of which is the requirement to practice professional behavior during the workshop. Failure to behave professionally will result in the withdrawal of stipends, forfeiture of reimbursement, and/or expulsion from the Institute. That behavior includes, but is not limited to:

• Informing the National NPETE staff of any medical conditions that may impact participation in the Institute;
• Attending all sessions and activities;
• Working as a team member during scheduled drills.  (Participants will be put into distinct roles that will vary throughout the training.  Participants need to listen and respect all team personnel.)
• Not engaging in peripheral discussions during presentations;
• Treating all workshop presenters, staff, and participants with respect and professionalism. (Constructive dialogue is an integral part of this workshop; negative criticism and prolonged discussion of areas of disagreement are not.)
• Honoring the requirements of the Institute concerning dress, personal protective equipment, security, and safety-related precautions;
• Being punctual for scheduled events is not just a sign of respect and professionalism; it is a requirement for successful completion of the DSW program and post-Institute activities.
• Agree to comply with NPETE’s Anti-Harassment Policy.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals

Travel
Travel arrangements to and from Fort Pierce, Florida are the responsibility of participants. Cost of travel by air and car rental or through mileage reimbursement will be paid by National NPETE. Details will be provided upon acceptance. Applicants are responsible for their airfare purchase even if they must withdraw from the Institute and cancel or change flights.

The training complex at IRSC is located about 112 miles south east of the Orlando airport and about 60 miles north of the West Palm Beach airport. The Residence Inn Hotel (tentative) is located 10 miles south of the training site just off Interstate 95, exit 121.

Lodging

You are responsible for your own reservations. NPETE will only reimburse at NPETE’s secured rate TBD plus taxes/night for 6 nights. During the Institute, everyone will be tentatively staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 1920 SW Fountainview Blvd. Port St. Lucie, Florida 34986, (772) 344-7814. Each participant will be provided his/her own room. The hotel room and tax will be reimbursed by National NPETE on a reimbursement form to be completed after the course ends. National NPETE will not cover any incidentals.

Payment for lodging outside of the workshop timeframe or for non-participating companions will be the responsibility of the participant. Local travel between the hotel and training site will not be provided. The hotel does not provide transportation to and from area airport. NPETE staff will work with you to facilitate carpooling.

Meals
Breakfast is provided at the hotel. Lunches will be on your own. A registration fee of $35 is charged to participants (reimbursed on travel forms) to cover cost of snacks and beverages. All other meals, including those during travel, will be reimbursed on a GSA per diem basis. Details will be provided upon acceptance. Participants will need to submit a reimbursement form no later than 30 days following the end of the Institute.

Schedule

Participants must arrive by Sunday, January 7, 2024. The Institute starts Monday morning at 8:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time with the OSHA 15 Hour DSW Outreach Training Program. The OSHA 15- Hour DSW provides safety training for participants who deliver skilled support (e.g. utility, demolition, debris removal, or heavy equipment operation) or clean-up services in response to natural and man-made disasters. All workers at disaster sites need to be aware of the differences between disaster sites and regular construction or demolition worksites. They must be able to inspect, don, and doff air-purifying respirators.

Completion of the 10 or 30-hour OSHA Construction or General Industry Outreach Training Program class is a prerequisite. Being a current OSHA outreach trainer for General industry or Construction will also be accepted. Applicants must provide a copy of their current trainer card front AND back with the attached application.

Participants are responsible for attending all workshop activities as outlined in the agenda (to be announced). The training day runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If Institute objectives for the day are not completed by 5:00 PM, the day may be extended to as late as 6:00 PM.

Liability Acknowledgement

By registering for and attending any live in person face to face NPETE event, I understand and agree that my participation is voluntary, and I acknowledge the risks and complications associated with travel to and from, as well as participation and/or attendance at this event. I represent, understand, and agree as follows:

• I understand that I am personally responsible at all times for my own health and safety.
• I understand and acknowledge that by registering for the event I am discharging NPETE from any liability or claim that I or my family may have against NPETE or its officers, director, employees, contractors, instructors or otherwise, with respect to any bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from my participation.
• I also understand that NPETE does not assume any responsibility for or has any obligation to provide financial assistance or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability insurance, in the event of injury or illness.
• Please note: Although we will make every attempt to comply with COVID protocol, if you are accepted understand you will be coming at your own risk.

I hereby waive, release, forever discharge and hold harmless NPETE and its successors and assigns, from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from my participation in any live in person face to face NPETE event.
