Funded by NIEHS and delivered by NPETE Master Trainers at Barton County Community College’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center.

IBSMART

A 2.5-day hands-on intensive institute that equips instructors with skills for emergency spill response training. This training is offered upon request.

  • Training covers components such as spill response overview, incident command systems use, PPE, plug & patch etc.
  • Graduates receive an NPETE IBSMART Certificate and Participants Card, qualifying them to train responders and workers in their area.

During this 2.5-day program participants are prepared to deliver required certifications for public and private responders and workers. Course work includes:

Implement a Planned Response
Evaluate Progress & Terminate a Planned Response

This training is delivered by NPETE Master Trainers covering components such as: Spill Response Overview, Incident Command System use, Characterization of Chemical Hazards using ERG, Assembly Inspection Don/Doff Clean and Package for Level A-C PPE, Plug and Patch, Confined Space Entry, Identifying Unknowns Using Field Expedient Method, Response and Rescue.
 
Upon successful training of the course, participants will receive an NPETE IBSMART Participants Card and Certificate.

NPETE offers this 2.5-Day IBSMART in conjunction with Barton County Community College at their OSHA Training Institute Education Center located in Grandview Plaza, Kansas.  This program is designed to prepare up to 18 Instructors with an intensive hands-on application of skills for emergency spill response training. Apply via online application when available. Join our mailing list to receive notification when applications open.

The following prerequisites must be completed by the deadline stated in the acceptance letter. Prerequisites are for accepted applicants only. Students who register for IBSMART but do not meet the prerequisites will be dropped from the course.

Complete the FEMA IS-100.C: Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100 Course
Complete the FEMA IS-700.B: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction Course
Complete NPETE’s Online Spill Response Course
